What is the Human Race?

The Human Race is a 5k walk, 5k non-competitive run or one-mile walk held at Thrivent Financial. This is a unique opportunity for individuals, families and businesses to work together to raise money for their own non-profit organization. Organizations register for the Human Race. Participants then select from one of the participating organizations and collect pledges.

Who can participate in the Human Race?

School groups, band groups, church youth groups as well as non-profit agencies are welcome to raise money for their organizations. In addition, anyone can become part of a team… community members, grandmas, uncles, sisters, cousins… ANYONE (even your pets can come along)! You can participate on behalf of a nonprofit organization. You can start a team for a nonprofit, or join an existing team.

When is the Human Race?

The 2017 Human Race is Saturday, May 6.

Where is the Human Race?

The Human Race is held at Thrivent Financial, 4321 N. Ballard Rd., Appleton, Wisconsin.

I understand that the Volunteer Center takes a percentage of the donations. What for?

The Volunteer Center handles all aspects of the event from start to finish. Our main goal is to create a large, easy fundraiser with as little effort (and “behind the scenes” work) passed on to our participating nonprofits as possible. We handle the marketing, newspaper ads (digital and traditional), email newsletters, radio ads, LAMAR billboards, t-shirt giveaways, food & beverage, entertainment/local DJs, food, port-a-potties, signage, run/walk way-finders, golf carts, and much more! We even coordinate members of the UW Marching band to come and give us a great show. All of this is made possible by taking a small percentage of donated funds. It’s a small way that we can offer a HUGE event for our participating nonprofits! For a more detailed fee structure, click here.
